Passado Continuo (Past Continuous)

PASSADO CONTÍNUO 

 

Nós formamos o passado contínuo com o passado simples do VERBO TO BE + A FORMA INFINITIVO DO VERBO (sem TO)+ ING. 

Exemplo: I was work+ing = I was working.

Assim, para o verbo TRABALHAR nós temos: 

 

AFIRMATIVO 

I was working 

You were working 

He, she, it was working 

We were working 

You were working 

They were working

Tradução:

Eu estava trabalhando 

Você estava trabalhando 

Ele, ela, estava trabalhando 

Nós estávamos trabalhando 

Você estava trabalhando 

Eles estavam trabalhando 

 

NEGATIVO 

I was not working 

You were not working 

He, she, it was not working 

We were not working 

You were not working 

They were not working

Tradução:

Eu não estava trabalhando 

Você não estava trabalhando 

Ele, ela, não estava trabalhando 

Nós não estávamos trabalhando 

Você não estava trabalhando 

Eles não estavam trabalhando

Tradução:

Eu estava trabalhando? 

Você estava trabalhando? 

Ele era, ela, isto que trabalha?

Nós usamos o passado contínuo dizer que alguém estava no meio de fazer algo em um certo momento. A ação ou situação já tinham começado antes deste tempo mas não tinham terminado 

 

Exemplo:

This time last year I was living in Brazil.

Tradução:

No passado eu estava morando no Brasil este tempo.
